Maureen portrait

Maureen is a French speech pathologist from Brittany who graduated with a Masters degree at the University of Nantes (France).

During her internships, she developed a particular interest in supporting children, adolescents and adults in neurology and intensive rehabilitation services. Her work in the paediatric disability sector then helped her gain experience with more complex difficulties, such as neurodevelopmental disorders, autism spectrum disorders, genetics syndromes, cerebral palsy, etc. This allowed her to develop her diagnostic and rehabilitation abilities, more particularly in terms of developing targeted programs to support language development, set up augmentative and alternative communication, and remediate oral and swallowing disorders. She also participated in the training of early childhood professionals in screening for neurodevelopmental disorders.

Maureen also developed an expertise with early language and communication through her work in a hospital neonatology setting with premature newborn babies. Her experience with bilingualism and multiculturalism in a professional context fostered her appreciation for the importance of adapting care in these circumstances. Over the years, parental support has remained a core aspect of Maureen’s work with families.

Alongside her professional commitments, Maureen loves traveling and discovering different cultures and countries. She enjoys the proximity of the ocean and outdoor activities like hiking and snorkeling.

Orthophonie Sydney is delighted to see Maureen join its team, to continue providing speech therapy support in French to bilingual / multilingual families in Sydney and beyond.
